Thanks to its manifold experience in the field of quality, Quality Austria has set still another step. A fire protection concept has been developed at “Donau Universität Krems” (Krems University). Austria Quality Seal for Labour Protection Management
OQA has applied for extension of the scope of accreditation to the “Austria Quality Seal for Labour Protection Management” with BMWA (“Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Arbeit” – Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Labour). In Austria, large fire, which had broken out four times within approx. 18 months, caused overall damage to the amount of about EURO 90 million. In this respect, it was clearly a question of failure of internal fire protection. It is true fire protection does occur in the individual Departments. However, it does not succeed in characterizing the overall organization. Establishing a Fire Protection Quality Seal will help companies to become safer. This does not only refer to the protection of persons but also to the protection of tangible assets and environmental protection. Nowadays the quality of fire protection is of utmost importance for any company. If a fire protection management system is actually translated into action, it will be possible to prevent hazards to persons, secure jobs, avoid interruptions and thus avoid adverse economic impacts, high material damage, losses of image, drain of customers as well as the incapacity to deliver. On October 10, 2008, the technical magazine “Blaulicht” of the broadcasting corporation TW1 broadcast a contribution in co-operation with the Fire Protection Forum Austria, which we do not want to deny you.

Austrian Quality Label for Fire Protection Management
The ÖQA applied at the BMWA for an extension of the scale of accreditation for the “Austrian quality label for Fire Protection Management”. Four serious fires in Austria within 18 months caused a total loss of about 90 million Euros. Reason for this lies doubtlessly in the managerial failure of fire protection.
Fire protection management has already become of great importance in singular divisions; however it does not play a vital role in the entire organisation. The implementation of a quality label for fire protection leads organisations to be a secure establishment, whereas not only personal security but also the protection of the environment and asset value is incorporated.
