Global and Long-Term Success
Best Practice with Liebherr: 30 Years of Quality Management
Liebherr has reason to celebrate: On 3 July 2026, the company marks 30 years of ISO 9001 - Quality Austria certification by Quality Austria Certification. Quality management is a key success factor at Liebherr Hausgeräte and an integral part of the company culture. The company is also certified in the areas of energy management, environmental management and occupational health and safety.
Everything began with the first ISO 9001 - Quality Austria certification for the Lienz site in July 1996. Since then, Liebherr has consistently demonstrated its commitment to quality in daily operations, leading to the expansion of certification across the entire organization.
Today, Liebherr Hausgeräte holds global certifications according to ISO 9001 - Quality Austria (Quality Management), ISO 14001 - Quality Austria (Environmental Management), ISO 45001 - Quality Austria (Occupational Health and Safety) and ISO 50001 - Quality Austria (Energy Management).

Quality management as a key factor for success
Ing. Daniel Oberlojer, MBA, Head of Global Quality Management, Appliance Division at Liebherr Hausgeräte, presented this best practice example to a broad audience at this year’s qualityaustria Forum in March. In his presentation “Quality 360 – A holistic quality approach as a competitive advantage”, he highlighted the company’s quality culture and how it has shaped Liebherr’s success over the past 30 years.
A quality mindset has been firmly embedded in Liebherr’s corporate strategy for three decades – with people always at the center. The key to this long-term success lies in making goals understandable and tangible for employees. Liebherr demonstrates how the right structures and a strong corporate culture can be developed and effectively put into practice.
Management systems that deliver results in practice
Through a strong quality culture built over decades, Liebherr has been able to increase customer satisfaction while effectively reducing bureaucracy – a strength that has proven particularly valuable during times of crisis.
“External audits have achieved much more than simply reviewing our activities. They have regularly encouraged self-reflection and provided important impulses for the further development of our company. A key success factor was the continuity of the cooperation, which enabled increasingly in-depth discussions. The high level of expertise of the auditors in interpreting the standard requirements was equally important,” says Ing. Daniel Oberlojer, MBA, Head of Global Quality Management, Appliance Division, Liebherr Hausgeräte.
“The greatest challenge for organizations is making quality management practical and accessible at all levels so that it can truly have an impact. Liebherr has achieved exactly that. The company impressively demonstrates how an established quality culture can create sustainable improvements over the long term,” emphasizes Thomas Waldner, Product Management Quality at Quality Austria.
Quality Austria Certification thanks Liebherr Hausgeräte for the excellent cooperation and warmly congratulates the company on this outstanding achievement.
