The Confederation of European Pest Management Associations (CEPA) and its members have supported the development of the European norm EN 16636 for the pest control sector in cooperation with the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). Its purpose was to ensure that the sector is recognized for a responsible approach and its importance for the public health in all countries of the European Union and EFTA member states. This European norm specifies requirements, recommendations and basic competencies, pest control providers have to fulfill, consider and produce in order to fulfill client requirements. This includes private clients, public authorities and the general public.
Requirements of the norm for a standardized work flow, regarding for example offer preparation, risk analysis, plans of action for control and risk minimizing measures. As well as reporting and professional skills requirements for staff of pest control providers.
