The quality management system for the railway sector
News from IRIS
We provide a brief overview of the latest developments and offers around IRIS certification, which are particularly important for companies in the railway industry.
IRIS Rev. 4: Innovations and Developments in Railway Certification
Since April 2024, the implementation of revision 4 of the International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS) has been running according to plan and brings with it numerous innovations for companies in the railway sector. One of the key changes affects small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular: they can now apply for simplified IRIS certification, provided they meet certain criteria. In specific terms, this means that companies with a maximum of 85 employees and an annual turnover of less than 25 million euros can enjoy simplified access to certification. This enables smaller companies in particular to align their processes with the international quality standards of the railway industry without needing the resources of larger companies.
Siemens Mobility Graz achieves IRIS Gold for the second time in a row
An outstanding example of successful implementation of IRIS certification is provided by Siemens Mobility Graz, which has achieved the "IRIS Quality Performance Level Gold" for the second time in a row. This achievement is particularly noteworthy considering the transition from IRIS Revision 3 to Revision 4. This means that the company is currently one of a handful of organizations that have achieved this high level of maturity in railway-specific quality management (IRIS) worldwide.
Webinar and Inhouse training on RAMS / LCC
In December 2024, Quality Austria and the IZB (Ingenieurgesellschaft für Zuverlässigkeit und Prozessmodellierung Dresden mbH) held a free webinar on the topic of "RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) / LCC (Life Cycle Costing)", which met with great interest. This topic is of great importance for companies operating in the railway industry, as it helps to optimize the lifecycle costs of products and systems and to increase reliability and safety. On request, it is also possible to offer tailor-made Inhouse training sessions in order to address specific requirements of the companies in an even more targeted manner.
IRIS Rev. 4 Refreshing in March 2025
On March 26th 2025, a one-day "IRIS Rev. 4 Refreshing" will take place in cooperation with the Styrian Mobility Cluster. The aim of this seminar is to explain the difference between the old IRIS Rev. 3 and the new revision 4 and to help companies make an efficient and targeted transition. The Refresher offers an ideal opportunity for all IRIS-certified companies to get an overview of the latest requirements and adjustments.
