SR10:2024 – The revised international standard for social responsibility and sustainable development

Companies are no longer judged solely by their economic performance, but also significantly on their social and environmental contribution to society. Standards such as  SR10  are therefore becoming increasingly important: with the SR10:2024 revision, IQNet is launching a modernized framework that supports organizations in implementing social responsibility in a structured, credible and future-oriented manner.

What is the SR10 standard?

The SR10 standard was published in 2011 and is an internationally recognized standard for a social responsibility management system. Its content is based on ISO 26000, but now also considers significant changes that are familiar from ISO management standards and offers a clear system for operational implementation and certification. Quality Austria was involved in the revision. The aim of the standard is to help organizations of all kinds to systematically integrate ethical conduct, transparency and social commitment into their business processes.

The SR10 standard is based on seven internationally recognized principles:

  1. accountability
  2. transparency
  3. ethical behavior
  4. respect for stakeholder interests
  5. legal compliance
  6. compliance with international standards of conduct
  7. respect for human rights

What will change with the SR10:2024 revision?

The current version SR10:2024 introduces far-reaching changes. The aim is to align the standard even more closely with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the current challenges of our time in terms of ESG: The proven ISO Harmonized Structure has been taken into account. The identification of crucial topics, opportunities and challenges is key. Topics such as climate change and climate change adaptation have been included, as have change management and a process for whistleblowing.

Why does the SR10 certification pay off for companies?

SR10 certification offers organizations a wide range of benefits:

  • It can be implemented by companies of any size, in any sector and regardless of location. For companies or locations abroad, the international standard is very well suited for demonstrating their ESG performance in the supply chain.
  • Focus on social responsibility but also takes the environment and corporate governance into account.
  • Alignment with SDG targets and ISO 26000 standard
  • Structured integration of ESG: the standard creates a solid management system that systematically integrates social responsibility
  • Potential synergies with other systems: SR10 can be easily combined with existing systems such as 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 37001 and ISO 37301 to further develop an Integrated Management System.
  • Credibility and reputation: Proven responsible action strengthens the trust of customers, partners and investors. The IQNet and Quality Austria brands additionally support this factor.
  • Competitive advantage: Companies can position themselves as responsible players - a real advantage in public tenders and the supply chain.
