Wabtec MZT AD (MZT) is a manufacturer of railway brake components and systems, established in 1953 in Skopje (North Macedonia). The company is now part of Wabtec Corporation, the renowned MNC created from the merger of three historical companies operating in the railways segment (Westinghouse and GE Transportation, USA, and Faiveley, France) .
At the beginning of the 1990’s, MZT started to export outside its traditional Yugoslavian market, facing the international competition by standardizing and improving its processes and quality. On 29th November 1996, with the support of Quality Austria, MZT achieved the certification ISO 9001:1996, being the second company in Macedonia able to introduce the ISO quality standard.
Since then, MZT has been certified according to several other international standards, among them EN 15085, EN 3834-2 and IRIS in 2013. In 2018 MZT introduced an Integrated Management System according to IRIS, (ISO/TS 22163:2017 including ISO 9001:2015), ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018. This year MZT celebrates both, its fourth IRIS re-certification as well as 25 years of the initial ISO 9001 certification.
