QMD Services: Florian Heffeter (43) new second Managing Director
Salzburg-born Florian Heffeter, an experienced healthcare expert, was appointed Co-CEO of QMD Services (Quality Medical Devices) on May 1st, 2024. Heffeter joins Anni Koubek on the management board of the company, which was founded in 2018 and has offices in Vienna and Linz. QMD Services is the national conformity assessment body in the field of in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) and medical devices.
Florian Heffeter (43) holds degrees in medical informatics and medical law. He looks back on a career of over 20 years in the healthcare sector. Most recently, Heffeter has held the overall operational responsibility as Managing Director of the Austrian subsidiary of the international management consultancy "UNITY Innovation & Consulting" since 2020 and works as an external lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. Prior to this, he worked among others at caresyntax Austria GmbH, Olympus Austria GmbH and Sanitas GmbH. As an author of specialist articles and speaker at renowned events, Heffeter has regularly published on the topics of innovation management, strategy development, digital health and eGovernment.
Setting the course for the future of the medical device industry
Together with Heffeter, the further growth of the internationally active QMD Services is to be driven forward and reinforcements for the international team of almost 20 people are brought on board. QMD – a 100% subsidiary of Quality Austria – obtained designation as the only Austrian conformity assessment body according to the In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation at the end of 2022. The company is currently in the final designation process under the Medical Device Regulation 2017/745 for general medical devices. A positive conclusion to the procedure is expected shortly.
