IFS Food Doctrin Version 8 V1 and Update of supporting documents
Shortly after the publication of IFS Food Version 8 and immediately after the revision of Doctrin Version 7 V3, the IFS Food Doctrin Version 8 was published in English.
In terms of content, there is not much news. Essential explanations can already be found in the IFS Food Doctrine 7 version. The update was necessary, among other things, because the assignments of the chapters have changed and the new transitional periods had to be specified.
Chapter 6 Food Defence has been deleted and integrated into Chapter 4 Operational Processes. In this respect, for example, the clarification on the (non-)applicability of requirement 4.21.2 has been adapted to the new numbering:
„The part of the requirement on how to manage external inspections and regulatory visits is not applicable if no food defence legislation exists in the country where the audit takes place which requires external food defence inspections and/or regulatory food defence visits, or if the company doesn’t export to the US and no FDA food defence inspection is required. As a result, food safety inspections which are performed by authorities are not involved in this requirement.“
The IFS Food Doctrine V7 is likely to have been updated first and then used as basis for that of the V8.
In addition, further supporting documents can be found on the IFS homepage in the download area, such as the revised guidelines on pest control, food defence, food fraud and packaging as well as the guide on listeria prevention for slaughtering, cutting and processing, which was created in cooperation with QS Qualität und Sicherheit GmbH. The tool is intended to support meat companies in enabling them to assess a potential listeria risk on site. In addition to recommendations for sampling, analysis and evaluation of results, best practice examples are also given and assistance is offered for the classification of products according to Regulation (EC) No. 2073/2005 on the basis of a decision tree.
