Remote or on-site?
IATF 16949 audits in times of the COVID-19 pandemic
In order to meet the current challenges, the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) has published "IATF-Measures-Coronavirus-Pandemic-COVID-19" in its now 5th revision. These rules explain the process of audits and are applicable in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to the presentation of the different audit options, either on-site or remote, the "IATF-Measures" also explain the associated prerequisites, time requirements and relevant deadlines.
We as Quality Austria have already embedded these adapted requirements in our management system as well as in our audit process to guide you through these challenging times in the best way possible.
What is a remote audit?
An IATF 16949 remote audit is a remote assessment that is carried out in the same way as an on-site audit. However, electronic tools such as video conferencing are used to remotely obtain and evaluate audit evidence in order to determine the extent to which audit criteria have been met.
When may an IATF 16949 audit take place remotely?
The following conditions must be met:
- Your company is currently producing serial or spare parts for customers in the automotive industry (even if the volume of parts produced is significantly reduced) AND
- The IATF 16949 3rd party audit cannot be conducted on-site for reasons directly related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
